How to deep clean Vinyl Flooring
We are now in a time where everyone is at home, cleaning is at the forefront of everyone’s minds. We understand that vinyl flooring doesn’t require much effort to keep clean, but we understand if you have been too busy to give it plenty of attention. So, if you’ve decided it’s time for some spring cleaning, here is how to deep clean vinyl flooring!
The best way to deep clean your vinyl flooring
Deep cleaning vinyl flooring requires little to no effort, but it’s worth having the correct cleaning equipment so that you are ready for any blemishes. With this in mind, here are the tools you will need:
· Broom or hoover
· Microfiber cloths
· Bicarbonate of Soda
· Putty knife
· Rags
· Floor cleaner or vinegar
· Washing up liquid
· Bucket
· Microfiber mop
· Water
Once you have all these supplies, you can then start by thoroughly sweeping or hoovering your vinyl flooring. We recommend a broom as you have a better chance of gathering everything together. If this isn’t an option, be sure to use the right setting on the hoover and use a nozzle for the hard to reach places.
Now it’s time to remove the scuff with a microfibre cloth. Simply dampen it and buff away any scuffs, even on oak vinyl flooring.
How to clean vinyl floors with stains
If you have allowed spills and splashes to sink in and stain your vinyl flooring, don’t panic. You can use a putty knife to scrape away things such as gum or paint. However, be sure to do this with care to avoid damaging the floor.
As for stains such as ink, sauces or juice, you can lift them with bicarbonate of soda! Mix with a small amount of water to make a paste, apply to the stain and gently rub with a soft rag until you see the stains disappear.
Mopping
The final thing you must do is give the floor a complete mop. You can do this with either any store-bought floor cleaner, washing up liquid, or even a cup of vinegar mixed with hot water! However, be sure to wring out your mop quite well before you begin scrubbing and dry with a towel once you are done. Too much water left to soak into the planks can lead to warping, something no one wants.
Vinyl flooring is an extremely durable and affordable option for almost any home, which is why they are a popular choice! If you would like to implement easy-to-care-for flooring into your home, get in touch with Floorbay for all your vinyl needs.
