LVT Strips: Everything you Need to Know

LVT is an extremely popular flooring option for many and is the perfect way to bring the look of natural elements in your home without the costs. Whilst LVT can look stunning on its own, many people choose to go a step further with feature stipes. If you’re not familiar with LVT feature strips, here’s everything you need to know.

What are LVT strips?

LVT strips are often given various names, such as grouting strips, LVT border strips or design strips. Used instead of grout, these fit between your tiles for an added feature to your flooring design.

Where can you use LVT feature strips?

It’s important to note that you can only use Luvanto design strips with glue-down LVT, not click. These strips fit around and between each board, something that wouldn’t be possible with click, given how they fit together.

How to Fit Feature Strips

When fitting your new flooring, adding LVT strips is easy! Any expert fitter can do this for you, but here is some guidance on taking the DIY approach!

You must first plan out how you want to lay your strips, similar to how you would the flooring. To avoid having four pieces meeting at a common corner, run full pieces in the same direction and then pre-cut the pieces that will run the opposite way.

There are many ways in which you can incorporate LVT strips into your flooring, but make sure don’t leave gaps between your tiles before you fit the strips. If you do this, the fit won’t be tight enough, leading to moisture damage. It also won’t look as appealing.

Be sure to lay the strips as you go, ensuring each one is as fitted as tight as possible between each tile. Use whichever LVT adhesive is recommended for your tiles and use a clean damp cloth to wipe away any excess.
