LVT flooring

Vinyl Flooring: The Need to Know

Plush carpets and hardwood flooring make a home feel very stylised and welcoming. Whilst looking great, it can also be incredibly costly. The focus of budget-minded homeowners is to take a closer look at luxury vinyl flooring, also known as LVT flooring. LVT offers numerous benefits whilst adding a completely invigorating aesthetic beauty over those other expensive materials.

Want to know more? Let’s take a short journey through the option of vinyl flooring.

All About Vinyl

Vinyl flooring is a close relative to linoleum, with the earliest version appearing in the 1960s with similar attributes. The materials used to create sheet vinyl were different, offering a wider range of colours and patterns for homes.

The easily cleanable nature of LVT was down to it being composed of a polyvinyl chloride material, which at the time posed an environmental challenge. Over the decades, work went into transforming LVT into a recyclable flooring material whilst operating in two different forms: Sheet and Tile.

How Easy to Install?

How you decide installation for your Luvanto luxury vinyl flooring is up to you. There are different techniques depending on whether you choose sheet or vinyl tile.

The first option would be to glue down the material – in either a sheet or tile – with a special adhesive. If you have floating vinyl flooring, it will most likely be vinyl tiles with a sturdy back and subfloor to create a stable surface. Sheet flooring can also be glue free, but it is uncommon.

For an easy installation, there is a self-adhesive option on some vinyl flooring, allowing you to peel and stick down individual tiles in any pattern and direction of your liking.

Are There Considerations?

With any flooring choice, there will always be areas that you need to consider before purchasing the item. The main thing you need to think about when choosing LVT like Karndean Click vinyl flooring or Quick-Step vinyl flooring is about the room you are wanting to install it within.

If you plan on installing LVT flooring in the bathroom, you may be able to have normal vinyl flooring laid. For rooms with higher foot traffic, such as the kitchen or downstairs hallways, you may require a thicker layer of vinyl which will stand up to the increased daily abuse.

The great thing about vinyl flooring is that it is easy to clean and can stand up to most cleaning products, making it ideal for kitchen area flooring where the majority of household spillages occur. Spillages can also be cleaned up much quicker thanks to vinyl being 100% waterproof.
