vinyl flooring myths

Debunking vinyl flooring myths

As it’s the year 2024, it feels as if everybody has opinions, both good and bad about pretty much anything! With opinions come myths, which can be hard to debunk and unveil the slither of truth attached to it. Vinyl flooring is sadly no exception to the rule! Due to its increasing popularity over recent years (particularly in the last five years), vinyl isn’t without its critics and vinyl flooring myths, due to the outdated perception that many people still hold.

However, with the help of this article, we aim to guide you through the myths and debunk them, so all that you’re left with are the facts about vinyl flooring. Knowledge is power in the vinyl flooring world, so we wish to equip you with only the most honest facts, which serve to expertly inform your future vinyl flooring choices and decisions. After all, your home deserves the very best LVF the world has to offer.

Some of our favourite vinyl myths!

Being flooring specialists since 1994, you can imagine that we’ve heard pretty much every vinyl flooring myth there is! There are some that sound somewhat reasonable and some that are just plain laughable. Below is a list of some of the team’s favourites that we’ve heard and seen over the decades.

‘Vinyl flooring is just pricey laminate’

This is probably the comment we equally dread and look forward to the most, as it’s so incorrect and based on misinformation. The significant difference between the two flowing types lies in their composites. Instead of the core composite being fibrewood, the luxury vinyl counterpart is made up of PVC, WPC, or an SPC core, hence the more expensive price tag (quality must be paid for!)

‘All vinyl flooring looks the same’

Again, this is something we wholeheartedly couldn’t disagree with more! With modern LVP and LVT choices, hyper-realism is the unique selling point for most people, as the quality, realistic exterior and depth of vinyl are unique to each luxury brand. Each brand and type of luxury vinyl offers a unique experience, from its façade to the installation process. Whether you opt for a plank or tile design, WPC vinyl or SPC vinyl,  the design process is different and therefore, so is the finalised look in your space. When choosing the perfect vinyl for you, we are always on hand to help as we appreciate with such an array of choices, it can feel like an impossible task to choose.

‘Vinyl flooring is outdated and lacks the modern touch’

As we dedicated a whole article to the vinyl trends of 2024, <<INSERT LINK TO 2024 VINYL FLOORING TRENDS ARTICLE>>, there has never been more of a resurgence of luxury vinyl flooring, with countless trends to keep up with! Vinyl flooring now offers such customised, modern facades, with top interior designers choosing to own bespoke luxury vinyl flooring within their properties. The new technology used within the flooring industry has shown huge improvements and revolutionised practices, to bring you the most modern flooring options. With such a vast array of modern aesthetics, luxury vinyl flooring really can modernise a space, with a unique, bespoke design. Luxury vinyls now offer their space a modern, hyper-realistic, natural finish, which has never been seen before on such a scale.

‘Vinyl flooring is difficult to install’

Not only is this factually incorrect, at Floorbay, we go as far as saying a luxury vinyl is relatively easy to install. With the right guidance, tutorials and knowledge, we are confident that any of our clients could install their vinyl floorings. Again, it comes down to the array of choices available to buyers now, which also includes the installation process. You can opt for click vinyl installation, sheet vinyl and peel and stick, aswell as tiles and planks. We also offer a bespoke fitting service, should you feel you require it. Rest assured, installing your new dream luxury Invictus flooring has never been more accessible.
