vinyl flooring questions

The Common Questions on Vinyl Flooring

Questions are something our team at Floorbay are no strangers to when it comes to vinyl flooring. Every brand name seems to have a set of unique questions from customers looking for the best possible vinyl solution for their homes. Most of the time, vinyl flooring questions asked of our teams fall into the same arena. To save some time, we have collated questions asked in 2023 by customers seeking the best luxury vinyl flooring solutions and have provided the answers for you.

What is Vinyl Flooring?

It may seem like an easy question to start with, but many people may not know that vinyl flooring comes in three separate types – luxury vinyl, luxury rigid core and sheet vinyl (or loose lay vinyl under its other title).

Each type definitely is unique in their features and easy to clean and maintain, being both waterproof and water-resistant – and all have printed decor layers that provide an authentic look. Which one is best suited to your environment is something you will need to talk with one of our team to get the best answer – as each kind of room has differing needs.

How Do You Lay Vinyl Flooring?

There are different methods of laying Quick-Step vinyl flooring. Which you use depends on the type of vinyl flooring you want to install.

The most common is the glue-down method, used for certain types of luxury vinyl and sheet vinyl. This installation does not require underlay as it is bonded directly to the subfloor via an adhesive to maximise durability. We recommend a professional installation for this method.

The other method would be click system fitting, commonly found with rigid core vinyl and some luxury vinyl brands. It is an easy DIY option performed over an underlay where the boards are floated and locked together. The last method would be a loose lay, used for sheet vinyl only. No glue or other fittings are required, but it can only be done up to a certain m2 in low-traffic areas of the home.

How Do You Clean Vinyl Flooring?

Luxury vinyl flooring such as Polyflor and Karndean Click vinyl flooring are easy to clean and maintain due to their tough, scratch-resistant top layer.

Vinyl’s low maintenance nature makes it a perfect worry-free solution where cleaning could be a simple sweep, vacuum and mop. It’s 100% waterproof promise bounces back spills and stains with ease, but you have to avoid abrasive scourers that will provide damage to the surface layer.

Although we say to avoid steam cleaning on any adhesive flooring, it can be used on rigid core vinyl if you want to give your flooring a facelift.

There are a ton of questions about Luvanto luxury vinyl flooring and its neighbouring brands, and our team are always happy to answer them. Contact Floorbay today to get all your vinyl flooring questions answered around LVT.
